The first TV anime based on a Rumiko Takahashi manga to not be dub in English.

The yen bills feature faces of characters from previous Rumiko Takahashi works as oppose to Japanese historical figures. The following characters to appear on the yen bills are Kotatsu-neko(1000 yen) from “Urusei Yatsura”, Rei in his cow-tiger form(5000 yen) also from “Urusei Yatsura”, & Genma in his panda form(10,000 yen) from “Ranma ½”.

In episode 2, there is a boat which looks like Genma from “Ranma ½“ in his panda form.

The rat spirit in episode 3, was the first anime exclusive character who did not originated from the manga.

In episode 4, plushies of Akane, Genma (panda form), Ranma, and P-chan from Rumiko Takahashi's Ranma 1/2 manga, as well as Lum from Urusei Yatsura can be seen in the crane game machines.

In episode 4, Usui is similar to the ghost Nozomi from "Urusei Yatsura".

Hanako-san in episode 5, is based on a famous Japanese bathroom ghost who is similar to Bloody Mary. Despite the legends about her, Hanako-san is not depicted as an evil spirit in this episode.

In episode 5, Toichi's name means "ten percent interest every ten days", a pun on the spiritual interest he accrues by loaning out his power to weaker ghosts.

In episode 9, one of the crossplayers was dress up as Lum from “Urusei Yatsura”.

In episode 11, the M.C. bears a strong resemblance to Principal Kuno from “Ranma ½“.

In episode 12, Sakura was wearing a Piyo Piyo apron from “Maison Ikkoku” at one point.

In episode 14, the panda holding a sign seen in front of the haunted house attraction resembles Genma from “Ranma ½“ in his cursed form.

In episode 16, Yota is a common male name in Japan, but due to it being written in Katakana, Yota's name has no meaning, but it might be a reference to the word "yo-yo" (ヨーヨー).

In episode 20, there are two participants who resemble Mousse and Ukyo from “Ranma ½” at the Shinigami Tool Workshop.

In episode 21, The design of the Fireworks Seller’s head looks identical to the Happo Daikarin(Happo Fire Burst) from Ranma 1/2.

In episode 23, the plot revolves on a nine-tailed fox. Tessho Genda who voices the narrator of this TV anime, previously voiced the nine-tailed fox from the Naruto anime.

In episode 23, in Japanese folklore, foxes are said to be wise, and the wiser they are, the more tails they have, with the maximum number of tails being 9. Ironically, the fox spirit in this episode is shown to be rather unintelligent.

In episode 24, Genma in his cursed form makes a cameo as the panda handing out flyers in front of the ramen restaurant.

In episode 24, it is unknown how the Beautiful Secretary made herself visible to the living beings. She may of been wearing or holding an accessory that help her become visible.
