The cathedral where Lupin learns about the lost Hemingway manuscript from one of the cathedral painters is the Basílica de la Sagrada Família in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain.

The books featured during the subject of Ernest Hemingway are “For Whom the Bell Tolls” (1940) & “The Old Man and the Sea” (1952). The latter was the last novel to be written by Hemingway while he was still alive.

Factual error: one of the photos of Hemingway depicts him residing in Paris, France during the 1930’s. However Hemingway was a young man during that time and did not don a beard back then like he did during his later years.

Goof: the newspaper headline reads as “Golden Key Has Stolen”, when it should of been “Golden Key Was Stolen”.

The Scorpions mercenary group bare a similar name to the Scorpion organization lead by Mr. X in the first two Lupin TV series. It should be noted that the Scorpions in this TV special, had no affiliation with Mr. X whatsoever.

When Goemon was imprisoned, one of the suggested means of torture was cooking him alive. This was a similar torture method that lead to the death of his ancestor the original Ishikawa Goemon. Who was boiled alive.

The car that Lupin & Fujiko drive around in during their visit to Switzerland is a Porsche 928 Club Sport.

Goof: Lupin’s yellow helmet is briefly colored green in one scene.
