Gankutsuou is originally the title of one of the earliest Japanese translation/adaptation of Le Comte de Monte-Cristo the novel.
In ep. 6, when the Count shows his 100 million franc checks to Danglars, the address for a "Monte Cristo Co." can be seen, 25954 Eden Landing Rd., Hayward, CA 94545. This is a real address, and as of 2006 the location for the Collection Bureau of America, a debt collection company.
