Trivia:

The family names of many of the main characters contain the kanji for numbers. Hitotsubashi Yurie [一橋ゆりえ]. Hitotsubashi in written with the kanji for the number one [一]. Ninomiya Kenji [二宮健児]. Ninomiya is written with the kanji for the number two [二]. Saegusa Matsuri [三枝 祀] and Saegusa Miko [三枝みこ] . Saegusa is written with the kanji for the number three [三]. Matsuri means worship and a miko is a Shinto shrine maiden. Shijou Mitsue [四条光恵]. Shijou is written with the kanji for the number four [四]. Mitsue is written with the kanji for light and blessing. Yashima-sama [八島様]. Yashima is written with the kanji for the number eight [八].

The titles of the individual episodes are from Japanese idol pop songs from the 80's and 90's. Episode 1. "Seijun no Ijiwaru" is from a song by Momoko Kikuchi, 1984. Episode 2. "Kami-sama Onegai" is from a song by Momohime BAND, 1993. Episode 3. "Sonna Tsumori Janakatta No Ni" is from a song by Rika Tatsumi, 1987. Episode 4. "Chikyuu no Kiki" is from a song by Rumi Shishido, 1991. Episode 5. "Hitoribocchi wa Kirai" is from a song by Mie Takahashi, 1983. Episode 6. "Chiisana Kesshin" is from a song by Shinobu Nakaya, 1988.

In DVD episode 11, "Love is Missing", Yomiko Readman of the Read or Die OVA and television series makes a cameo. She flashes on the screen reading a book while Miko Saegusa and Shou Hitotsubashi run down a street at about 13:16.

Episode 8 - Wild Times: Tyler Nyaden is actually a pun on "Tyler Durden" from the movie "Fight Club".

Kamichu! is set in Onomichi, Hiroshima prefecture.

In episode 12 (Yurie as a transfer student), Anita from R.O.D The TV can be seen for a second or two during the sequence where the other students make way for Yurie at the school's cafetaria.
