AKB48 Female Idol Group Gets PSP 'Dating Fantasy Game'

1st authorized home videogame for Akihabara-based 48-girl group

Bandai Namco Games has announced on Tuesday that it will release the AKB 1/48 Idol to Ai Shitara… (AKB 1/48 If I Were to Love an Idol…) "ultimate dating fantasy game" — the first official, authorized home videogame based on the all-female idol group AKB48 from Tokyo's Akihabara district. In the game, all 48 members will confess their love for the player, and the player will get to choose one of them for a unique "happy ending." The game will use 10,000 photographs of the members, as well as about 80 minutes of video of the members confessing their love to the player and full voice recordings of all the members' dialogue.

The game will ship for the Sony PSP on December 23 in four different versions: a standard edition with just the game itself and an idol photograph, a limited-time-only pressing with a video UMD and three photographs, a limited first pressing with the video UMD and more bonus exclusive items, and a Premier Special Pack with all the bonus exclusive items and an exclusive PSP system.

The video UMD contains about 120 minutes of footage that was unused in the game itself. The game's limited first pressing will add 10 photographs, two "making-of" DVDs with about 240 minutes of footage, 48 1/1-scale life-size "kiss mark" imprint stickers from all the members, 24 reversible jackets (for a total of 48 different cover illustrations), and an exclusive box to hold everything. The Premier Special Pack will add all of the above and a PSP-3000AKB system with 48 different "kiss mark" battery covers.
