Shrine of the Morning Mist's Ugawa Draws Poster for Manga's Model City

Hiroki Ugawa, the creator of the Shrine of the Morning Mist (Asagiri no Miko) manga and anime, drafted a summer poster to promote tourism in the city of Miyoshi, Hiroshima. Ugawa hails from the nearby town of Kaita, and he modeled Shrine of the Morning Mist after the folklore of Miyoshi.
Ugawa visited the city in 1999 to do research before launching his manga in the following year, and he has returned to the city over and over ever since. In fact, he ended up marrying a Miyoshi innkeeper last month.
The city printed 100 giant B1-sized (about 39 by 28 inch) posters and 600 smaller B2-sized (28 by 20 inch) posters to hang in tourism facilities throughout the prefecture. The city also made 15,000 A4-sized (12 by 8 inch) flyers to pass out.
Ugawa intends to continue contributing posters for an entire series that will eventually cover fall, winter, and spring. The Chugoku Shimbun paper published a photo of Ugawa and his wife Suzumi admiring the current summer poster.
Tokyopop published the manga in North America, and Media Blasters released the television anime on DVD.
