Miyagi Prefecture Produces Cute 5-Minute Anime Short to Advertise Farms

posted on by Carlos Cadorniga

A boy learns to appreciate his vegetables in an animated short/advertisement.

Miyagi Co-Op, a Japanese food company aptly based in Miyagi Prefecture, has recently released a five-minute animated short film to promote Megumi Field, its food farming branch.

In "The Boy Who Became a Tomato", a young boy who hates eating his tomatoes at dinner wanders into a strange vegetable field where he himself becomes a tomato. After meeting with other vegetable children, they and the boy are planted by a kindly farmer who proceeds to care for them as the days go by and the weather gets rough. Eventually, the tomato boy finds himself back to being a human and finds a whole new appreciation for the love and care that went into growing vegetables as he starts eating and enjoying tomatoes.

The short was made to portray the hard work and delicate measures that Megumi Field takes in growing their vegetables for shipment. Further animated shorts will be presented in the future.
