Fan-Made Metal Gear Solid Remake Cancelled

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

The Unreal Engine 4 fan remake of the original Metal Gear Solid game is no more, according to post on the project's official Facebook page on Friday. The staff cited "reasons beyond our control" for the game's demise.

The "Shadow Moses" project was operating without permission from Konami. They had hoped to get the greenlight from the company to continue their work. The staff did not state that Konami was involved in closing down the project.

The gaming company previously approved a Metal Gear remake project by a group named "Outer Heaven." That remake was created as a mod of the shoot-em-up game Alien Swarm, available through Steam.

The Shadow Moses project is separate from IndieDB user Boker's remake teased in October. Like the Shadow Moses project, Boker's "Outer Heaven" project uses the Unreal Engine 4. Boker released a tech demo in January and the first official trailer on February 25.
