Hyogo Theme Park Will Open This Summer with Tezuka, Shin-chan Themed Areas

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Pasona Group Inc., a major staffing agency, announced on Monday that anime theme park will open on Hyogo prefecture's Awaji Island in July. Nijigennomori Park (literally 2D Forest Park) will have a section dedicated to Osamu Tezuka's Phoenix that comes to life at night and an athletic course based on Crayon Shin-chan. The project heads are expecting close to one million visitors per year after the park opens.

The park's location originally opened to the public in 1985 and draws 330,000 visitors, mainly families from the Kyoto-Osaka-Kobe area. The prefecture began accepting revitalization proposals in 2013. Pasona's plan, aiming to open during the 2017 fiscal year was ultimately chosen. The company also plans to add more attractions than just the Shin-chan and Phoenix areas.
