Re:ZERO, My Hero Academia Top Sugoi Japan Awards 2017 Results

The Yomiuri Shimbun newspaper published the winners of its 2017 Sugoi Japan Awards on Thursday. The project promotes pop cultural works that fans feel are most deserving of foreign attention. Divided into four categories — anime, manga, light novels, and "entertainment novels" — the awards promote the works that have the "universality," "originality" and "potential" to be big international hits. The time frame is the last 3.5 years, except for anime, which is only from the past year.

Anime Series

  5. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable

Manga Series

  1. My Hero Academia by Kōhei Horikoshi

  3. Ten Count by Rihito Takarai
  4. Dagashi Kashi by Kotoyama
  5. The Ancient Magus' Bride by Kore Yamazaki

Light Novel Series

  1. Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- by Tappei Nagatsuki
  2. Konosuba - God's Blessing on This Wonderful World! by Natsume Akatsuki
  3. Yes ka No ka Hanbun ka by Michi Ichiho
  4. Qualidea Code Series by Speakeasy (Wataru Watari, Sou Sagara, Koushi Tachibana)
  5. Kami-sama no Goyōnin by Natsu Asaba

Entertainment Novels

  1. your name. by Makoto Shinkai
  2. Danganronpa Kirigiri by Takekuni Kitayama
  3. Konbini Ningen by Sayaka Murata
  4. Shinjitsu no 10-Meter Temae by Honobu Yonezawawa
  5. Hitsuji to Hagane no Mori by Natsu Miyashita

Last year's winners included the likes of Your Lie in April, Shirobako, One-Punch Man, Tokyo Ghoul, Haikyu!!, and Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?
