Latest Rose of Versailles Manga Reveals There Was a Vampire Among Them...
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
While The Rose of Versailles' English release is still in limbo, creator Riyoko Ikeda is pulling out new surprises in her manga revival. The latest chapter's story extends beyond the world of pre-Revolution France and all the way into an entire other series by Ikeda's contemporary, Moto Hagio.
Ikeda completed the "Rosalie Arc" of her Rose of Versailles Episode manga side stories in Margaret magazine on February 5 and in the chapter made it apparent that The Rose of Versailles is connected to Poe no Ichizoku (The Poe Clan) manga. Hagio revived the vampire manga series, which originally wrapped 1976, in Monthly Flowers in 2016. The story stars the two centuries old vampire Edgar living in Europe in the 19th and 20th centuries.
Ikeda's Rosalie Arc focused on Rosalie Lamorlière, the last servant of Marie Antoinette. The manga chapter also marks the return of The Count of Girodelle, Oscar's former fiancee and subordinate in the Royal Guard. The manga chapter shows that Girodelle has not aged beyond the appearance of a 30-year-old man. He's then shown returning to the village that appears in Poe no Ichizoku.
A literal blood-sucker hiding among the monarchy's elite? Who'da thought?!
