Pac-Man Chomps His Way to Alexa Devices for Interactive Stories

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Amazon's Alexa device is moving beyond changing the TV channel and turning on the lights. Bandai Namco Entertainment is starting its first creative venture by introducing the Pac-Man Stories skill. The voice-controlled service offers up interactive, family-friendly stories.

Each story allows listeners to make moral decisions that affect ending, as a sort of Pac-Man-flavored Choose Your Own Adventure. The first story is titled "Pac-Man and the Ghastly Garbage" where players help the ghost-eating hero save his planet from trash. Players are rewarded with Power Pellets based on their decisions.

The Pac-Man Stories combine the video game franchise's well known characters including Inky, Blinky, Pinky, and Clyde and brand-new characters. The Alexa skill is available only in English and only on devices in the United States, United Kingdom, and Ireland. Bandai Namco Entertainment plans to add more stories throughout the summer.

The Alexa device previously got a special skill in February that let users talk to Pikachu for Pokémon Day.

Disclosure: Bandai Namco Filmworks Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Bandai Namco Holdings Inc., is a non-controlling, minority shareholder in Anime News Network Inc.
