Game Director Hideki Kamiya Holds World Record for Highest Score in Ninja-Kid Caravan Mode

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

PlatinumGames' video game director Hideki Kamiya was awarded the Guinness World Record for the highest score in the classic Ninja-Kid video game's Caravan mode. Kamiya's top score is 158,680 points and he challenged anyone to beat the score at game developer Hamster's booth at the Tokyo Game Show. No one was able overcome his impressive score and so Kamiya was acknowledged as the record holder.

Ninja-kun Majō no Bōken was originally released in arcades by UPL in 1984. Hamster has re-released the game for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch as part of the Arcade Archives game bundle. Players control a ninja in a red hood and defeat other ninja while climbing upwards.

Hamster also received a world record for "Most consecutive weekly game releases on the Nintendo eShop."

Kamiya recently supervised PlatinumGames' Astral Chain Switch game. He directed the original Bayonetta, Devil May Cry and Okami games.
