Viz announces 4/99 releases

In their monthly press release, Viz Communications announced products slated for release in April of 1999. Among them, the biggest news is the first two episodes of Video Girl Ai OAV's on one tape for $19.99 dubbed or $24.99 subtitled, making it the lowest-priced Viz release ever. Video Girl Ai is slated for release on April 16.

Other releases include the dubbed release of Ranma 1/2 Outta Control: Pinky Promised, as Viz starts to wind down the Japanese Nettohen TV series (slated for 4/2), as well as the subtitled edition of Ranma 1/2 Hard Battle: Soap Gets In Your Eyes (4/9).

Viz monthly comics announced for this month include:

  • Mobile Suit Gundam 0079 (2 of 8)
  • Pokémon: Pikachu Shocks Back (2 of 4)
  • Neon Genesis Evangelion Book 4 (3 of 7, both flopped and unflopped)
  • Dragonball Part 2 (2 of 15)
  • Dragonball Z Part 2 (2 of 14)
  • Night Warriors - Darkstalkers' Revenge (6 of 6)
  • No Need for Tenchi Part 7 (1 of 6)
  • Ranma 1/2 Part 8 (1 of 13)
  • Maison Ikkoku Part 9 (1 of 8)
  • Inu Yasha Part 3 (1 of 7)

    As well as the continuation of Viz' monthly magazines, Animerica, Animerica Extra, and Pulp. Also slated for release are the following graphics novels:

  • Silent Möbius Part 2 (248 pages @ $16.95US)
  • Voyeur (232 pages @ $16.95US)
  • No Need for Tenchi Volume 5 (176 pages @ $15.95US)
