Dengeki Movie Festival Opens; Press Conference Held

Voice talent and staff share their perspectives on Shana/Kino's Journey/Inukami! "mega" film

The voice talent and other staffers of the Dengeki Bunko Movie Festival held a press conference and photo session earlier this week to commemorate the opening day of the film. April 21 was the official theatrical release date for the film, which is actually a collection of three films based on novels and anime that originated with the Dengeki publishing company. The three films are Kino's Journey - The Beautiful World (abbr.), Inukami! The Movie, and Shakugan no Shana.

"When we made the TV (anime) series, the story was a bit different from the original novel. The film is much closer to the original," said voice actress Rie Kugimiya (Shana), adding, "Buy lots of the DVDs!" in an appeal to the audience.

Voice actress Ai Maeda (Kino) said that helping with the opening anime and other parts of the film was "incredibly fun. It's a film with a new setting and the small characters are really cute." With a laugh, she added, "Bring your friends, family, and lover to see it!"

Yui Horie, who plays Youko in the Inukami! film, spoke of the atmosphere during film production: "The staff of the film worked very closely, so we got a little carried away while making (the film)." Horie joined her fellow voice talent in playing up the film's PR, saying, "Tell your friends, 'Hey, want to go check this out?' before seeing the film."

The film is currently playing in theatres across Japan.
