Rental Magica, Sketchbook to Become Television Anime

posted on by Egan Loo
Stories about wizards for hire, art club misfits previously ran as manga

Moon Phase reports that author Makoto Sanda and illustrator pako's Rental Magica nine-volume light novel series will be animated for television broadcast. In the story, Isuki is a high school student who inherits a magicians' employment agency from his missing father.

Sanda had previously written a novelization for the Monster Collection trading card game (Mon Colle Knights in anime form), and he will edit the Rental Magica anime scripts with Fruits Basket writer Mamiko Ikeda. Artist Akiho Narimiya has already adapted Rental Magica as a manga in Monthly Asuka magazine. Director Itsuro Kawasaki will oversee his Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE character co-designer Minako Shiba and the ZEXCS studio on the anime. The Sneaker novel magazine's web site will announce the broadcast premiere date and voice cast information in the beginning of June.

Totan Kobako's Sketchbook four-panel comic strip is also being made into a television anime series under the name Sketchbook ~full color'S~. The comic, which began in Mag Garden's Comic Blade magazine and migrated to Comic Blade Masamune, revolves around the daily life of high school freshman Sora and her art club friends. Sailor Moon's Junichi Satō will supervise the animators at Hal Film Maker and his Aria the Natural writer Mari Akada on this new project.

An anime adaptation of Daisuke Suzuki's Go-Shuushou-sama Ninomiya-kun light fantasy novel series in Monthly Dragon Magazine has also been greenlit, but no further information has been made public.

Errata: Go-Shuushou-sama Ninomiya-kun title corrected.
