Japanese Box Office: March 22–23, 29–30

Doraemon: Nobita to Midori no Kyojin Den, the latest movie about Fujiko F. Fujio's manga robotic cat, retook the top spot at the Japanese box office for two straight weeks (March 22–23, 29–30) after dropping to make way for Kevin Lima and Disney's Enchanted. Doraemon added the equivalent of US$2,257,879 in its third weekend and US$2,891,329 in its fourth on 344 screens for grand total of US$22,092,358 (Box Office Mojo). This past weekend was the last weekend of the long spring break, so it was the last chance for schoolchildren to catch this movie.
Eiga Kurosagi (Kurosagi the Movie) dropped from #4 to #5 in its third weekend with US$1,074,914, and then stayed at #5 in its fourth weekend with $889,590 on 315 screens. This theatrical version of the live-action television drama adaptation of Takeshi Natsuhara and Kuromaru's manga now has a gross-to-date of US$12,833,534. The story centers on a man named Kurosaki who becomes a "Kurosagi" (black egret), or someone who swindles other swindlers.
The ninth film adaptation of the Eiichiro Oda's One Piece manga and television anime series dropped from #8 to #10 with US$533,808 on 294 screens in its fourth weekend, but crept up to #9 with US$519,273 in its fifth weekend. It now has US$7,201,153 in total. L change the WorLd dropped out of the top 10 after seven weeks.
