Oishinbo Cuisine Manga to Resume in Japan Next Week (Updated)

posted on by Egan Loo
Tetsu Kariya, Akira Hanasaki took break last May after 25 years, 102 volumes

This year's 12th issue of Shogakukan's Weekly Big Comic Spirits magazine has announced on Monday that Tetsu Kariya and Akira Hanasaki's Oishinbo cuisine manga will resume publication next Monday. The manga had stopped running last May after 25 years and 102 volumes. During the long break, Hanasaki drew a manga adaptation of Ryō Wada's Nobō no Shiro samurai novel.

Viz Media just began publishing the acclaimed manga in North America last month. In Japan, the Shinei Animation studio adapted the manga into a 1988-1992 television series and two specials in 1992 and 1993.
