Japanese Box Office, April 3-4

Doraemon: Nobita no Ningyo Daikaisen, (Doraemon: Nobita's Great Merman Sea Battle) stayed at #1 on both Box Office Mojo and Kogyo Tsushinsha's charts during the April 3-4 weekend for the fifth week in a row. According to Box Office Mojo, the film earned US$1,745,600 on 366 screens in its fifth weekend for a total-to-date of US$29,507,301. This is the 30th movie in the popular children's anime franchise, which is also celebrating its 30th anniversary.
The Precure All Stars DX2: Kibō no Hikari—Rainbow Jewel o Mamore! (Precure All Stars DX2: Light of Hope— Protect the Rainbow Angel!) magical girl anime film dropped from #2 to #3 on Kogyo Tsushinsha's chart during its third weekend. Box Office Mojo ranked the film at #4 with US$1,066,286 on 160 screens for a total-to-date of US$9,610,816. The film features all 17 cure soldiers, including characters from the current seventh Pretty Cure series, Heartcatch Precure!
Liar Game: The Final Stage, the theatrical film adaptation of Shinobu Kaitani's Liar Game psychological thriller manga, stayed at #4 on Kogyo Tsushinsha's chart and at #5 on Box Office Mojo's chart in its fifth weekend. It took in US$1,041,816 on 283 screens for a five-week total of US$22,357,573. The film is set after the second television season based on the manga.
The live-action film adaptation of Inio Asano's acclaimed Solanin romance manga debuted at #6 and earned $992,893 on 108 screens. Aoi Miyazaki (live-action NANA film, Origin: Spirits of the Past, Someday's Dreamers, Tomie: Forbidden Fruit) stars in the film as the heroine Meiko, while Kengo Kōra will play her boyfriend Naruo. Takahiro Miki (DNA Sights 999.9), the director best known for music videos for Orange Range and YUI, is overseeing the project.
The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya film, the first ever film in the Haruhi Suzumiya franchise, fell from Box Office Mojo's charts during its ninth weekend.
