Savanna Game Suspense Novel Gets TV Anime in 2012

Shogakukan Creative, an editorial unit within the publisher Shogakukan, revealed that a television anime adaptation of the Savanna Game "suspense battle fantasy" novel by Lance K. Kuroi (Ransuke Kuroi) is in the works. Kuroi himself and Everystar, a community for user-generated novels and comics, added that the television anime has been green-lit for next year. (Everystar was one of the original sites that hosted this mobile phone novel read by over 15 million people.)
The story follows a young man named Kazuya Shibuya who receives an anonymous email message out of the blue one day: "Won't you join the Savanna Game?" The message is an invitation to a state-sanctioned killing game — a deadly role-playing game designed to motivate the inhibited youth of modern Japan. Shibuya and his two friends Kotegawa and Kudō find themselves in bizarre battles that span the space-time continuum, with everything from dragons to the Shinsengumi force of the shogunate era.
Shogakukan Creative published the first print volume of the novel on November 19.
