Voice Actress Kazuko Ute Passes Away at 84

Voice actress starred in 1967 Goku no Daibōken TV anime series

Kazuko Ute, the voice actress who played Goku in Goku no Daibōken, passed away on November 17 from a stroke. She was 84.

Ute, who is from Tokyo, was best known in the anime industry for starring in the 1967 television anime series Goku no Daibōken. She was also a well known kamishibai (paper theater) storyteller and teacher. Ute was also a part of a successful line of children's audio books, which she helped create. The Kisetsu wo Kanaderu Yosei Tachi No Utaasobi book series tells popular children's tales.

A farewell service for Ute will be held on January 28 in Tokyo.
