Touch's Adachi to Launch New Manga, End Q&A

Baseball highlighted in promotion for new series by Cross Game's Mitsuru Adachi

The April issue of Shogakukan's Gessan (Monthly Shonen Sunday) magazine is announcing on Monday that manga creator Mitsuru Adachi will launch a "major new series" in the June issue on May 12. Some of the promotional images for the new series feature baseball, a common element in Adachi's works. The April issue is also confirming that Adachi will end his Q and A manga in the next issue.

Adachi is best known for such coming-of-age sports manga as Touch and Cross Game. He launched a new baseball manga series called Asaoka Kōkō Yakyū-Bu Nisshi - Over Fence (Asaoka High School Baseball Team Journal - Over Fence) in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine last April. Adachi also drew Cross Game from 2005 to 2010 in Weekly Shonen Sunday, and he has been serializing Idol Ace (Weekly Shonen Sunday) and Q and A (Gessan) on an irregular basis.

Viz Media began releasing the Cross Game manga in North America in 2010, and the seventh volume will ship next month. Viz previously published Adachi's Short Program compilation of short stories. The Cross Game manga inspired a television anime series that ran from 2009 to 2010, and Viz streamed the anime.
