Kono Danshi Anime DVD Gets Second Installment

posted on by Jennifer Sherman
Production begins for new alien invasion/teen anime by Soubi Yamamoto

The official website for the Kono Danshi, Uchū-jin to Tatakaemasu. (This Boy Can Fight the Aliens.) original anime DVD announced on Wednesday that production of a second anime has begun. Visitors to the Tokyo International Anime Fair 2012 event, which will run from March 22 to 25, will be able to view a promotional video for the new series installment at director Soubi Yamamoto's Creator's World booth.

In original anime's story, aliens suddenly invade the world, and a boy named Kakashi stands alone with the power to fight back against the aliens — except he lost his memories. The anime starred Ryōhei Kimura (Eden of the East, Natsume Yūjin-Chō) as Kakashi, Toshiyuki Toyonaga (Katekyo Hitman Reborn!, Durarara!!) as an anti-alien forces member named Arikawa, and Daisuke Hirakawa (Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo, School Days) as Arikawa's superior and Kakashi's guardian Shiro.

Yamamoto scripted the first 28-minute anime and debuted as a 21-year-old anime director with the project. Before Kono Danshi, Uchū-jin to Tatakaemasu., Yamamoto directed the opening sequences and promotional videos for boys-love dōjin games and the iPhone app Rōdoku Shōjo.

CoMix Wave Films, the company which released many of Makoto Shinkai's works that inspired Yamamoto when she was still in middle school, released the DVD for Kono Danshi, Uchū-jin to Tatakaemasu. in November. The company also held the project's international premiere at the New York Comic Con last October.
