3 military manga series slated for 2014 debut in N. America

North American manga publisher Seven Seas Entertainment announced on Monday that it will release three new manga series: Girls und Panzer, Arpeggio of Blue Steel, and Strike Witches. Volume one of Strike Witches: Maidens in the Sky (Strike Witches: Tenkō no Otometachi) is slated to ship in North America in April 2014, while the first volumes of Girls und Panzer and Arpeggio of Blue Steel will follow in June and July respectively. The company also plans to release the Girls und Panzer: Little Army spin-off manga in late 2014.

The Strike Witches: Maidens in the Sky manga series is adapted from the video anime that also spawned the two television series that Funimation has licensed. Original Strike Witches creator Humikane Shimada wrote the two volume series and Yuuki Tanaka drew the series, which ran in Kadokawa Shoten's Comp Ace magazine. Seven Seas will release the series in two volumes.

Takeshi Nogami's Strike Witches spinoff manga, Strike Witches: The Witches of Andorra, has previously been published in English in Kadokawa Shoten's online magazine Kadokawa Niconico Ace.

Arpeggio of Blue Steel (Aoki Hagane no Arpeggio) is Ark Performance's manga series, which is being adapted into an anime series that will premiere this fall. The sci-fi story takes place in the future where humanity has been pushed to near extinction by the mysterious against the mysterious and unknown, "Fleet of Fog." The heroes commandeer one of the Fleet's submarines and begin to fight back. Ark Performance launched the series in Shonengahosha's Young King Ours magazine in 2009, and the publisher released the seventh compiled volume in May.

Ryōichi Saitaniya is drawing the Girls und Panzer manga series, which began serialization in Media Factory's Comic Flapper magazine in June 2012, before the anime premiered in October. Media Factory published the second compiled volume in February. Crunchyroll streamed the anime series as it aired, and Sentai Filmworks licensed the series for an upcoming home video release this year. The franchise will also include a film that is set to open next year.
