KanColle Anime's 1st Blu-Ray/DVD Release Promo Streamed

posted on by Kyle Cardine
Anime will premiere on January 7

Kadokawa began streaming the first promotional trailer for the upcoming Kantai Collection -Kan Colle- anime's first Blu-ray and DVD release. The trailer features the opening theme "Miiro" (Sea Color) by AKINO from Bless4 (Amagi Brilliant Park).

The limited edition Blu-ray and DVD sets will ship on March 27 for 7,600 yen (about US$64) and 6,600 yen (US$56), respectively, along with a standard DVD edition for 5,600 yen (US$47). The website lists

The first limited edition Blu-ray and DVD will include newly recorded disc navigation voice, a "classified blueprints" information collection, a storyboard reproduction, a three-sided box with original illustration, a digipack, a Weiβ Schwarz PR card, original illustration card, no credit opening, and an event application. In addition, different retailers will offer different gifts with purchase.

The anime's official website outlined the story, which is set in a world where humanity has lost control of the seas. The threat that has taken over the seas is the "deep sea fleet." The only ones who can counter this threat are Kan-musume (literally, warship girls), girls who possess the spirit of naval vessels from days gone by.

The base for the fleet arrayed against the "deep sea fleet" is Chinjufu. There, many various Kan-musume have gathered to live together and work hard everyday in training and other matters. One day, a Kan-musume arrives at Chinjufu. She is a special class of destroyer. Her name is Fubuki. "I am Fubuki! Nice to meet you!" Fubuki's story — as well as the Kan-musume's story — begins now.

There will be a preview screening of the anime on December 27 at Tokyo's Shinjuku Piccadilly theater with the cast. Plus, about 30 theaters throughout Japan will hold premium live viewings of the event simultaneously.

The anime will star:

Sumire Uesaka as Fubuki

Saki Fujita as Akagi

Yuka Iguchi as Kaga

Other cast members include Ayane Sakura, Nao Tōyama, Yuka Ōtsubo, Rina Hidaka, Aya Suzaki, and Iori Nomizu.

Keizō Kusakawa (Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha franchise, Problem children are coming from another world, aren't they?) is directing the anime of Kadokawa Games' moe-character card battle game at the studio diomedéa (Squid Girl, Problem children are coming from another world, aren't they?). Jukki Hanada (Love Live! School idol project, Steins;Gate) is in charge of the series scripts.

Kadokawa Games launched the original free-to-play browser game with the service provider DMM.com in April 2013. In the game, players compete with cards featuring female moe characters inspired by Japanese World War II warships such as aircraft carriers, battleships, and cruisers. Players build, organize, and repair their anthropomorphized fleet to progress through maps.

A PlayStation Vita port of the game, directed by the original browser game's producer and director Kensuke Tanaka, is slated to ship this spring.

The show will premiere on Tokyo MX on January 7.
