Alice in Borderland's King of Diamonds Spinoff Manga Ends

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Spinoff of Haro Asō's manga began in October

This year's sixth issue of Shogakukan 's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine is announcing on Wednesday that the Alice in Borderland: Chi no Kyokuchi - Daiya no King-hen (Land of Wisdom - King of Diamonds Arc) manga will end in the 10th issue, which goes on sale on February 4.

The manga is a spinoff of Haro Asō's Alice in Borderland (Imawa no Kuni no Alice) manga series. The story begins when Chishiya challenges the Jack of Diamonds to a game of Mahjong, and a "battle of extreme intelligence" unfolds. The manga began last October.

The main Alice in Borderland (Imawa no Kuni no Alice) manga revolves around Ryōhei Arisu (pronounced the same way in Japanese as "Alice"), a male high school student who is irritated with his intolerable everyday life. One night, he tags along with his bad friend Karube and Chōta to hang out in town. However, the town is suddenly covered in giant fireworks, and when he comes to his senses, Ryōhei notices that no one else is around. Finding themselves in a different world, Ryōhei, Karube, and Chota are forced to participate in survival games, or die right off the bat. The three fight to live, as well as to find a way back to their own world.

Asō began serializing the main manga in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday S (formerly Shōnen Sunday Chō) in 2010. The manga's 12th, 13th, and 14th volumes each is bundling original video anime (OVA) episodes. The 14th volume will ship on February 18 in Japan with the third OVA episode.
