posted on by Sarah Nelkin
Cast for play originally scheduled to premiere in January also announced; voice actor for Yōichi Kuramochi directs play

This year's 23rd issue of Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine revealed on Friday that the previously-delayed stage play adaptation of Yūji Terajima's Ace of Diamond (Daiya no A) baseball manga has been rescheduled to be performed at the Zepp Blue Theater Roppongi from August 1 to 9.

Office Endless will produce the play, while voice actor and script-writer Shintarō Asanuma (Ace of Diamond's Yōichi Kuramochi, Majestic Prince's Toshikazu Asagi) will direct the play and write the scripts. Kamen Rider Gaim actor Ren Ozawa (seen right) will play the protagonist, eijun Sawamura. The cast will also star Tomoki Hirose (Yowamushi Pedal stage play) as Satoru Furuya, and Takuma Wada (Prince of Tennis 2nd Season stage play) as Kazuya Miyuki. The 24th issue of the magazine will reveal the cast for Haruichi Kominato, Ryōsuke Kominato, Yū Chris Takigawa, Jun Isashiki, Yōichi Kuramochi, and Tetsuya Yūki.

The play was originally scheduled to premiere in January at Tokyo's Shinjuku Kinokuniya Southern Theatre, but the play was announced to be delayed in December. The website for the adaptation closed the next month, with the staff apologizing to fans who were looking forward to the play. Production company Eigines was originally planned to produce the play.
