The official website for the upcoming television anime of Ai's Million Doll manga unveiled additional cast members, as well as its July 6 premiere date. In addition, the site also revealed a visual for the character Mariko.

The staff previously announced that Aina Kusuda and Miku Itō would star in the anime, but they were not attached to a role until now.

JTB Communications is also holding open voice actress auditions until Wednesday, May 20. "Healthy" women in the 14- to 25-year-old range, who have not already signed themselves to agencies, can apply to play the character Kūnyan and idol group members.

Ai's original Million Doll manga revolves around Sūko, an idol-loving hikikomori (shut-in) who has one ability: To make any idol popular through the power of blogging. She puts her sights on the Fukuoka idol Itorio and tries to make her sell more, but she is impeded by the charismatic idol Ryūsan and the underground idol Mariko. The author of the manga is an idol otaku herself.

The manga began serializing on Comic Smart's free manga website Ganma in December 2013. Asahi Production will animate the 12-episode series, and it will premiere in Japan in July. Keiichiro Kawaguchi (Hayate the Combat Butler, Zettai Karen Children, Sket Dance) is directing off scripts by Momoko Murakami (Magical Warfare, Muromi-san, Pretty Rhythm Aurora Dream). The staff will host the first fan meeting on June 21.
