Aoharu x Kikanjū TV Anime Adds Ryohei Kimura, Yui Horie to Cast

Tomoaki Maeno, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, Mikako Komatsu perform theme songs for series debuting on July 2

The official website for the upcoming television anime adaptation of NAOE's Aoharu x Kikanjū (Aoharu x Machinegun) manga revealed on Saturday that Ryōhei Kimura (Kuroko's Basketball's Kise, Eden of the East's Akira, Silver Spoon's Hachiken) is joining the cast as Takatora Fujimoto, and Yui Horie (Fairy Tail's Charle, Toradora!'s minori, Persona 4's Chie) is joining the cast as Kanae Yajima.

The site also revealed that Doi☆Gangan (a unit made up of voice actors Tomoaki Maeno, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, and Mikako Komatsu) will perform the show's opening theme song "The Bravest Destiny." Komatsu will also perform the ending theme song "Gunjō Survival" (Ultramarine Survival).

The website also revealed on Saturday that the series will premiere on TBS and CBC on July 2 before airing on MBS, TUT, and BS-TBS at later dates.

The previously announced cast includes:

Hideaki Nakano (Baccano!, My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU, Golden Time episode director) is helming the anime series at Brains Base (Durarara!!, Natsume's Book of Friends), with scripts by Kenji Konuta (Library War, Ace of Diamond). Junko Yamanaka (Detective Conan films, You Are Umasou, Kamisama Kiss 2) designed the characters and is also serving as chief animation director.

The manga follows high school student Hotaru Tachibana, a girl disguised as a boy. Through strange circumstances she finds herself drawn into the world of survival games by a host, Masamune Matsuoka. The two form a team with ero-manga artist Tohru Yukimura and aim to be the be the best in Japan.

NAOE began the series as a two-part short and then premiered the full series in Square Enix's GFantasy magazine in January 2013. Square Enix published the manga's sixth compiled book volume on February 27.
