Vol. 7 also sets franchise records for most 1st-week sales & highest rank on overall chart

The seventh Blu-ray volume of the Shirobako TV anime series sold 13,398 copies in its first week of sales. It ranked #2 on Oricon's weekly overall Blu-ray ranking chart for the July 27-August 2 week, and was also the #1 selling Blu-ray disc in the anime category for the same week. This marks the first time the series' Blu-ray volumes have topped the weekly anime Blu-ray chart.

Before the seventh volume, the previously highest first week Blu-ray ranking for Shirobako was its second volume, which ranked #2 in the weekly anime Blu-ray chart in the January 26-February 1 week, selling 7,741 copies in its first week. (It was also #3 on the overall Blu-ray chart.)

In addition, the series' seventh volume topped the sixth volume's first-week sales of 12,742 copies, making the seventh volume the highest selling Blu-ray volume in the series for its first week. This marks the seventh consecutive Shirobako Blu-ray volume that topped its preceding volume's first-week sales.

Shirobako's story centers around five high school friends who decide to enter different sectors of the anime industry together when they graduate, and follows them as they work to succeed in production, 2D animation, voice acting, writing, and CG animation. Tsutomu Mizushima (Genshiken, Girls und Panzer) directed the anime, with series composition by Michiko Yokote (Genshiken, Joshiraku), and animation production by P.A. Works. It premiered last October. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired, and Sentai Filmworks licensed the series for North America.
