Love Live! Film Earns 2.60 Billion Yen After 107 Days

Bunka Tsushin reported on Tuesday that, as of Monday, the Love Live! The School Idol Movie film has earned more than 2.60 billion yen (about US$21.7 million), 107 days after its Japanese premiere.

The film premiered in Japan on June 13, and earned 400 million yen (about US$3.24 million) on 121 screens in its first two days. The film had earned more than 2.4 billion yen (about US$19 million) as of August 16, 65 days after the film opened at the box office, surpassing the 2.08 billion yen (about US$17.7 million) box-office earnings of the Puella Magi Madoka Magica The Movie Part 3: Rebellion film, and the 2.28 billion (about US$18.2 million) yen gross of the Eiga Crayon Shin-chan: Ora no Hikkoshi Monogatari ~Saboten Daishūgeki film.

As of September 12, the film had earned more than 2.53 billion yen (about US$21.2 million), and ranked fifth highest in earnings from films released by Shochiku since 2000.

The film premiered in select cities in the United States on September 12. The film will also screen in Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, Brunei, and Indonesia.
