M&C! Publishes Scarlet Affection Shōjo Manga Collection

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda

Indonesian publisher M&C! published a manga compilation book titled Scarlet Affection on Wednesday. The book collects various one-shot manga, as well as chapters from serialized manga, all from shōjo manga creators published in Shogakukan magazines. The book will include works by Marina Umezawa, Yuki Shiraishi, An Nakahara, Kana Nanajima, and Tomoko Nishimura.

Umezawa published her "The Second First Kiss" ("2-kaime no First Kiss") one-shot manga in Shogakukan's omnibus book Daisuki na Kimi to Hajimete no Kiss, which Shogakukan published in April 2014, alongside other one-shot manga published in Shogakukan's Flowers magazine.

Shiraishi published her "Sentimental Boy A" ("Sentimental Shōnen A") manga in Shogakukan's Sho-Comi magazine in 2013. The manga centers on a boy who is a minor actor in horror movies. Years ago, as a child, he had made a promise with a girl. Now, the girl is a star actress, and the boy struggles to convey his feelings to her.

Nakahara's Rainbow Prismatic Girl (Niji-iro Prism Girl) manga centers on the daughter of a talent agency president. She has beauty, athleticism, and everything else she needs to be an actress — except she initially despises the entertainment world.

Nakahara launched the manga in Shogakukan's Ciao in 2010 and ended it in 2013. Shogakukan published the manga's seventh and final compiled book volume in January 2014. The manga received four original animation video (OAV) episodes.

Nanajima's Natsumeki!! (Natsumeki!! - Chikyū to Kimi no Sukima ni) manga centers around Natsume Sono, a freshman high school girl who has just moved from Tokyo to Ehime. A boy named Yūdai Aogiri invites her to his traditional dance team after seeing how good Natsume is. However, Natsume's friend from middle school, Rikka Mamiya, arrives. Now a member of an idol group, Rikka begins to fall in love with Yūdai.

Nanajima launched the manga in Sho-Comi in 2011, and ended it in 2013. Shogakukan published the manga's eighth and final compiled book volume in August 2013.

Nishimura published "My Lovely Class Leader -Extra Stories-" (Gokujō!! Mecha Mote Iinchō -Extra Stories-) one-shot side story in Shogakukan's Ciao Deluxe magazine. The one-shot is a spinoff of her Gokujō!! Mecha Mote Iinchō manga. In the story, Mimi Kitagami is a kind, level-headed girl who aims to be the best, coolest student council president of her high school class. However, three trouble-making boys are always causing her grief — and she has a one-sided crush on one of the boys, Ushio Tōjō.

Nishimura launched Gokujō!! Mecha Mote Iinchō in Ciao in 2006, and ended it in 2012. She launched a sequel series titled Shin Gokujō!! Mecha Mote Iinchō in the same magazine in 2012, and ended it in 2013. Shogakukan published the latter manga's fifth and final compiled book volume on October 30. The manga received two 51-episode television anime adaptations in 2009 and 2010, respectively.
