Sansha Sanyō Anime Casts Mai Kanazawa, Ayaka Imamura, Yū Wakui

Yasuhiro Kimura directs April comedy show at Doga Kobo

The February issue of Kadokawa's Monthly Newtype magazine is publishing the main voice cast and color character designs for the television anime of Cherry Arai's Sansha Sanyō four-panel manga on Saturday. Mai Kanazawa will play Futaba Odagiri, Ayaka Imamura will play Teru Hayama, and Yū Wakui will play Yōko Nishikawa. The magazine also confirms that the series will premiere in April.

The comedy manga follows the everyday life of three very different high school students, all of whom have the kanji for "leaf" in their name. ("Sansha Sanyō" is a Japanese idiom that means three people who have different personalities to the each other, but the manga's title replaces the final kanji in the idiom with the kanji for "leaf.") Futaba Odagiri is incredibly energetic but is also a glutton. Teru Hayama looks like an angel but she is really a demonic class president. Yōko Nishikawa is the daughter of family that used to be a member of the upper class, but after her father's company went bankrupt, they became poor.

Yasuhiro Kimura (Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE! episode director) is directing the series at animation studio Doga Kobo. Hideaki Koyasu (Lance N' Masques, GJ Club) is handling series composition and Jun Yamazaki (episode animation director for Senran Kagura: Ninja Flash!, Muromi-san) is designing the characters.

Arai launched the series in Manga Time Kirara in its February 2003 issue, and Houbunsha published the 11th compiled volume in August 2014.

Arai's Engaged to the Unidentified (Mikakunin de Shinkōkei) comedy four-panel manga previously inspired a television anime series that premiered in January 2014. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired and Sentai Filmworks released the series on home video in February.
