Crunchyroll Streams Joker Anime's Season 3

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Phantom thief series returns with added characters on Monday

Media distribution service Crunchyroll announced on Sunday that it will stream the Mysterious Joker Season 3 (Kaitō Joker Season 3) television anime series as it airs in Japan. As with the anime's previous two seasons, Crunchyroll will once again stream the anime with the title Joker. The stream will begin on Monday at 7:30 a.m. EST, and will be available worldwide except for Asia and Italian-speaking territories.

In Hideyasu Takahashi's Kaitō Joker (Mysterious Joker) manga that inspired the anime, there is nothing in the world that the mysterious phantom thief Joker cannot steal. He goes after one treasure after another in unpredictable capers with seemingly miraculous tricks.

The new cast includes:

Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma's Sōma Yukihira) as Phoenix/Tsubasa Akai

Atsumi Tanezaki (Seraph of the End: Vampire Reign's Sayuri Hanayori) as Hosshii

Daisuke Kishio (Fairy Tail's Loki) as President D

Phoenix is a Southern Cross messenger who can manipulate flames. Phoenix attacks Joker as Joker is trying to find the mysterious creature Hosshii, but his true intentions are unknown.

Yukiyo Teramoto will direct the series, with series composition by Dai Sato. Miho Shimogasa is designing the characters, and Yūsaku Tsuchiya is composing the music.

The first television anime series premiered in October 2014, and the second series premiered in April 2015. Crunchyroll streamed both the anime series (under the title Joker) into several countries as they aired in Japan.

Takahashi began the manga in Shogakukan's Bessatsu Coro Coro Comic magazine in 2007, although it then moved to the main Monthly CoroCoro Comic magazine. The manga won the children's category of the 58th Shogakukan Manga Awards in 2013.
