Elex Media Licenses Miracle Girls, Animal Encyclopedia Manga

Animal Encyclopedia released Tuesday, Miracle Girls on Wednesday

Indonesian publisher Elex Media Komputindo announced on Monday that it has licensed Nami Akimoto's Miracle Girls manga and Q-taro Hanamizawa's Dōbutsu Zukan (Animal Encyclopedia) manga.

Miracle Girls centers on twin sisters Tomomi and Mikage Mitsunaga, who together have special powers, being able to communicate telepathically, teleport, and exhibit other psychic abilities. When Mikage switches identities with Tomomi to perform better on their school's sports day, where they are teamed with Tomomi's boy rival Yuya. However, Mikage finds herself drawn to Yuya. yuya, suspicious of Mikage's (who was really Tomomi) behavior, heads to her house, where he finds out their secret.

Elex Media will release the manga's first volume on Wednesday.

Akimoto published Miracle Girls in Kodansha's Nakayoshi magazine from 1991 to 1994. Kodansha published nine compiled book volumes for the series. The manga inspired a 51-epsiode television anime series in 1993.

Animal Encyclopedia centers on Gaō Shishido and Mei Hitsuji, two members of their school's literary club. Gaō has a secret crush on Mei, but hasn't acted on it. One day, Mei doesn't show up at all for club, and a worried Gaō shadows Mei to her destination, and finds that she heads to a zoo. He finds out later that Mei works as a zookeeper.

Elex Media released the manga's first volume on Tuesday.

Hanamizawa launched the manga in Shogakukan's Sunday GX magazine in 2013, and ended it last May. Shogakukan published the manga's third and final volume last June. Hanamizawa ended her Shōnen Yo Taishi o Tedake! semi-autobiographical manga last February. Her REC manga inspired a television anime series in 2006.
