Udon Entertainment Licenses Persona 3 Manga

North American publisher Udon Entertainment announced that it licensed Shuji Sogabe's manga adaptation of the Atlus role-playing game Persona 3. Udon will publish the first volume in September.
Udon describes the manga:
Persona 3 follows a diverse group of high school students as they stumble upon a strange phenomenon known as the “Dark Hour,” a mysterious time that occurs at the stroke of midnight, between one day and the next. Now, Minato Arisato and the rest of his friends in the Special Extracurricular Execution Squad must balance their busy high school lives with their continuing investigation into the Dark Hour – and you thought your high school life was tough! These unlikely heroes will have to face the demons within and find the strength to call upon their inner selves – their “Personas” – if they are to survive the horrors of the Dark Hour…
Sogabe launched the manga in Kadokawa's Dengeki Maō magazine in February 2007, and serializes it on an irregular schedule in the magazine. Kadokawa published the manga's ninth compiled book volume on January 27. Sogabe had said in March 2015 that the manga would "probably" end in the ninth volume. However, Sogabe then noted in the ninth volume that he will not be able to end the manga until the 10th volume.
Atlus released the Persona 3 game on the PlayStation 2 in 2006. It has since spawned a PlayStation Portable remake, a spin-off anime titled Persona -trinity soul-, and four anime films. The fourth and final anime film adapting the game, Persona 3 the Movie #4 Winter of Rebirth, premiered in Japan on January 23. The characters of Persona 3 frequently appear together with characters from Person 4 in spinoffs of both games, such as the Persona 4 Arena fighting game and the Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth RPG.
Udon Entertainment also licensed Sogabe's manga adaptation of the Persona 4 game. It released the first volume of the manga on March 11.
Persona 5, the newest game in the series, is launching on the PlayStation 4 in Japan on September 15.
