Atsuko Watanabe's Piacevole! My Italian Cooking Manga Gets Anime

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Manga's 1st volume available digitally in English at Crunchyroll

An anime adaptation of Atsuko Watanabe's Piacevole! manga has been green-lit, with the title Piace: Watashi no Italian (Piacevole! My Italian Cooking). The announcement did not specify the anime's format, such as television, original video anime, or film. The project has opened a website and Twitter account.

Hiroaki Sakurai (Kodocha, Di Gi Charat, Maid Sama!) is directing the anime at Zero-G, with Watanabe herself drawing the anime's character designs. Reiji Kasuga (Sasami: Magical Girls Club, Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu, GA: Geijutsuka Art Design Class) is credited as art director.

Crunchyroll licensed the manga in April, and the first volume is available digitally in English. Crunchyroll describes the manga:

High schooler Morina Nanase starts work at Trattoria Festa, an Italian restaurant filled with various and sundry quirky characters...and where through its unique cuisine, she will begin to mature as a person.

Watanabe (Heavy Object, Hanayamata) has worked as an animator and character designer on numerous anime projects before starting Piacevole! in the Comico manga app in 2013 (under the pen name Nab_At.) Taibundou released the first compiled book volume last September.
