Film premiered on August 19 in Japan; N. American premiere slated for October

The official website for the Kizumonogatari anime films began streaming a long promotional video for Kizumonogatari II: Nekketsu-hen on Monday.

The film opened in Japan on August 19 on 117 screens and ranked #8 at the Japanese box office for its first weekend. The film is still playing in theaters in Japan. AkibaFest in Los Angeles will host the film's North American premiere on October 15.

The first film, Kizumonogatari Part 1: Tekketsu, opened in Japan on January 8. Aniplex of America previously screened the first film in the United States in February-March, and the film opened in Canada on August 28.

The third and final film, Kizumonogatari III: Reiketsu-hen, will open in Japan on January 6, 2017.

Akiyuki Simbo is once again credited as chief director for the film trilogy at the anime studio SHAFT. Akio Watanabe and Hideyuki Morioka are designing the characters. Yota Tsuruoka is directing the sound, and Satoru Kousaki is composing the music. Tatsuya Oishi is the director.

Kizumonogatari is the third volume in NisiOisin's Monogatari book series and is a prequel to Bakemonogatari. The novel tells the story of how protagonist Koyomi encounters the female vampire that would turn him and his journey to return to his normal life. North American publisher Vertical released the novel in English in December.
