The Girls und Panzer anime film opened last November 21, and screenings will continue through November 21 of this year. As of August 21, the film had sold a total of 1,355,313 tickets for 2,315,264,894 yen (about US$23.08 million).

The film shipped on DVD and Blu-ray Disc on May 27, and the release came with a new OVA that takes place after the events of the movie, as well as an episode of the "Akiyama Yukari no Sensha Kōza" (Yukari Akiyama's Tank Lecture) shorts. The limited special edition Blu-ray Disc of the film sold 162,361 copies in its first week and topped Oricon's overall Blu-ray Disc chart for the May 23-29 week.

Update: Although Girls und Panzer series producer Kiyoshi Sugiyama indicated during a talk show event at Tokyo Game Show on Thursday that the new project is a film, he later clarified on Twitter that his comments were in error, and asked fans to wait for the format of the project to be revealed.
