Rie Takahashi Replaces Risa Taneda for Fate/Grand Order's Matthew Role

Voiced dialogue for other characters Taneda voiced in game remain unchanged

The official website of Aniplex and Type-Moon's Fate/Grand Order smartphone game announced on Monday that the voice actress for the role of Matthew Kyrielite has been changed from Risa Taneda to Rie Takahashi. The announcement stated that the change was made due to an upcoming update for the game on October 1 that would necessitate recording additional lines of dialogue for the character. Due to Taneda's current hiatus due to focusing on medical treatment, the staff decided to recast the character.

The voiced dialogue of other characters that Taneda voiced in the game, including Mata Hari (Assassin), Kiyohime (Lancer), Kiyohime (Berserker), and Marie Antoinette (Rider), and Marie Antoinette (Caster), remain unchanged.

Taneda announced in August that she would focus on medical treatment for an unspecified illness. Taneda had been receiving treatment for some time before the announcement, but since she showed no signs of recovery, she decided to focus solely on treatment and recovery.

Aniplex released Fate/Grand Order for iOS and Android devices in July 2015. The game focuses on previous Holy Grail Wars in the Fate universe, and features Heroic Spirits drawn from myth and history, in addition to returning characters from the main Fate/stay night stories.
