Japanese, Saudia Arabian companies collaborated on story

Animation Studio GAINAX and Saudi Arabian media content company ARiNAT collaborated on a three-minute anime trailer titled "Desert Knight" (Sabaku no Kishi), which debuted on Thursday at the "ANI:ME" Japanese pop culture festival in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. ARiNAT began streaming the anime on Tuesday with both Japanese and Arabic text.

GAINAX and ARiNAT collaborated on the story in the trailer, and produced the video this past summer. ARiNAT describes "Desert Knight":

A movie featuring the Japanese anime style that takes place in the Arabian Peninsula and concerns an ambitious young man who decides to challenge the tyranny and the rule of the law of the jungle and bandits to build a world filled with peace and love.

ARiNAT CEO Essam Bukhary commented, "We hope that we will not only transmit knowledge of animations and video games from Japan to Saudi Arabia but also deliver something new from Saudi Arabia to the world." Gainax studio co-founder Hiroyuki Yamaga commented, "We are very excited to collaborate with the Middle East at the forefront in the field of animation and contents production. We hope that we will create new works by new work processes and new ideas through the partnership."

ARiNAT is an acronym of the Arab Innovative Arts and Technologies. According to the company website, it focuses on the preparation and distribution of comics, games, and animation.
