RADWIMPS Wins Japan Record Awards' Special Award For 'your name.' Soundtrack

Hikaru Utada's Fantome album wins Excellence Album Award

The 58th Japan Record Awards announced on Friday that Japanese rock band RADWIMPS' soundtrack for Makoto Shinkai's your name. (Kimi no Na wa.) anime film has won the Special Award. RADWIMPS shares the award with rock band THE YELLOW MONKEY, Shiro Sagisu's soundtrack for Shin Godzilla, and the BIGBANG South Korean five-man idol group.

Additionally, Hikaru Utada's new album Fantome won the Excellence Album Award this year.

The award ceremony will be held on December 30 and will air in Japan on TBS.

RADWIMPS composed over 22 tracks for your name.'s soundtrack, as well as the film's theme songs "Zen Zen Zense (movie ver.)," "Sparkle," "Yume Tōrō (movie ver.)," and "Nandemo Ii ya (movie edit/movie ver.)." The soundtrack is the first RADWIMPS album to top Oricon's weekly album chart, where it stayed for two weeks. As of the November 7-13 week, the album has been in the top 10 for 12 straight weeks (the album currently sits at #10).
