MBS, TBS End 'Nichigo' Anime Timeslot, Launch Saturday Morning Anime Hour in April

1st 1-hour anime slot on JNN since 1983 with first Macross

The JNN television stations TBS and MBS announced on Tuesday that they are both ending their "Nichigo" Sunday evening anime timeslot in April, and launching a new one-hour anime timeslot named "Anisata" (Japanese abbreviation for "Anime Saturday") on Saturday mornings at 7:00 a.m. No JNN channel has had a one-hour timeslot for anime since the 1983 airing of The Super Dimension Fortress Macross and Ai no Senshi Rainbowman.

The Nichigo timeslot, so named for its airtime of Sunday ("nichi") at 5:00 p.m. ("go"), launched in 2008 with the airing of Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2. It has since then aired such anime as Mobile Suit Gundam 00 Second Season, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Sengoku Basara Two, Star Driver, Blue Exorcist, Mobile Suit Gundam AGE, Magi: The Kingdom of Magic, Space Battleship Yamato 2199, Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic, Haikyu!!, The Seven Deadly Sins, The Heroic Legend of Arslan, Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans, My Hero Academia, The Heroic Legend of Arslan: Dust Storm Dance, The Seven Deadly Sins: Signs of Holy War, and the currently airing second season of Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans.
