Play to tell original story of Akechi vs Fiend With Twenty Faces

The staff of the Trickster anime project announced on Tuesday that a stage play adaptation will run from April 12-16 at the Zepp Blue Theater Roppongi in Tokyo.

The play will tell an original story — not told in the anime — of a confrontation between Kogoro Akechi and the Fiend With Twenty Faces. The performance will feature song, dance, action, and projection mapping.

The play will star Yūki Torigoe as Yoshio Kobayashi, Tomoru Akazawa as Kensuke Hanazaki, and Ryōtarō Akazawa as Ryō Inoue. The cast members for Kogoro Akechi and Fiend With Twenty Faces will be revealed at a later date.

Ichidai Matsuda (Actually, I Am…, Re-Kan! stage plays) is directing and writing the play, and Kōjirō Ishioka is handling choreography.

TMS Entertainment announced the Trickster: Edogawa Rampo 'Shōnen Tantei-dan' Yori (Trickster - From Rampo Edogawa's "The Boy Detectives Club") anime based on the works of Japanese mystery novelist Edogawa Rampo in June, and also revealed that the project would include a stage play, manga, and live-action film. The ongoing manga launched in Kodansha's Magazine Special on June 20.

The anime premiered in Japan on October 3. Crunchyroll streamed the anime with English subtitles as it aired, and Funimation offered its SimulDub of the series starting on November 3. The series' second half will premiere on January 9 in Japan.
