Koisuru Shirokuma Petit Anime's 60-Second Version Streamed

Anime about polar bear in love with fearful seal will screen in theaters

Shochiku began streaming the 60-second version of the "petit anime" adaptation of Koromo's Koisuru Shirokuma (Polar Bear in Love) manga on Wednesday. The full anime will screen in Japanese movie theaters before the trailers beginning on March 4.

In the video, the Polar Bear describes a "meeting of destiny" with the Seal where he falls in love at first sight. While the Polar Bear admires the Seal's features, the Seal fears the Polar Bear is there to eat him. The Polar Bear confesses his love, but the Seal mistakes this to mean "love to eat." Finally, the Polar Bear asks if the Seal will marry him when he is older, so the Seal tells the Polar Bear that he is also male. The Polar Bear says, "You're male but it doesn't matter to me," and the Seal responds, "It matters to me."

Natsuki Hanae (The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.'s Reita, HaruChika's Shinjirō) voices the Seal, and Yuichiro Umehara (Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans' Eugene, Nananin no Ayakashi's Guten) voices the Polar Bear.

Kazuya Ichikawa (Tantei Team KZ Jiken Note, Monster Strike the Animation) directed the anime at Gathering, and also penned the script. Yō Yamada (Penguindrum, The Garden of Words, your name.) served as the sound director. Rock band Scenario Art (The Perfect Insider) composed the music.

The original manga revolves around a polar bear who falls in love with an earless seal, and he wants nothing else except to protect him, even though the seal constantly thinks the bear will eat him.

Koromo launched the manga on the free manga app Comico in December 2014, and began serializing it in Monthly Comic Gene in June 2015. Kadokawa published the manga's second compiled book volume last August, and the third is slated to ship on March 27.
