Neofilms to Screen Monster Strike The Movie in Hong Kong in April

Hong Kong film distributor Neofilms announced on Thursday that it will screen the Monster Strike The Movie anime film in Hong Kong in April.
The film opened in Japan on December 10, and topped the Japanese box office in its opening weekend.

Actor Kinya Kitaōji (One Piece Film Gold's Raise Max, Asura's Buddhist Monk) guest starred in the film as Kentarō Ishibashi, an old-fashioned old man who is reticent and rude, but is always there to help someone out when they're in trouble.
The film tells a prequel story before the events of the net anime series. Shinpei Ezaki (Gunslinger Stratos: The Animation, Guilty Crown: Lost Christmas) directed the film at XFlag, while Yoichi Kato (Yo-kai Watch, Aikatsu!) and Jirō Ishii (BBK/BRNK, Under the Dog) returned from the series to supervise the film's script. Taku Kishimoto (ERASED, Joker Game, 91 Days) penned the script. Nao Hirasawa (Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet, Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches) is credited as producer. Tatsurō Iwamoto is credited for original character design, and Masayuki Kondō is credited for monster design. Shizue Kaneko is credited for animation design. LIDEN FILMS, Ultra Super Pictures, and XFLAG PICTURES produced the film. Naoto Inti Raymi performed the film's theme song "Yume no Arika" (Where the Dream Is).
The Monster Strike net anime series premiered in October 2015. New episodes streamed on YouTube with English subtitles starting on the same day the anime premieres online in Japan. The anime will get a second season starting in April.
The anime centers on protagonist Ren Homura, who returns to his hometown of Kaminohara, but something in his memories tells him he didn't really live in Kaminohara before. After the Monster Strike app is forcefully installed on his phone, the game and its battles start to help him piece together his scattered memories. Ren also uncovers the truth about the smartphone game.
The net anime series and anime film are both based on mixi's mobile game. The game's staff reports over 35 million players worldwide.
