Actress Maki Horikita Retires From Entertainment Industry

Actress Maki Horikita announced on her official website on Tuesday that she is retiring from the entertainment industry. She stated that she will focus on being a mother, and that she has discussed the decision with her husband Kōji Yamamoto, and that he respects her decision.
Horikita debuted as an actress in 2003, and had notable roles in the the live-action series Densha Otoko and Nobuta wo Produce. She has starred in live-action series and films such as Kurosagi, Ōoku: The Inner Chambers, Hana-Kimi, and the three Always: Sunset on Third Street films. She has also ventured into voice acting with the Doraemon: Nobita to Midori no Kyojin Den anime film, and provided the voice of the character Luke Triton in the Professor Layton franchise, including in the Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva anime film.
She married actor Kōji Yamamoto in 2015.
