One Peace Books to Publish Mikagura School Suite Light Novels, Manga in English

Series inspired anime adaptation in 2015

North American publisher One Peace Books confirmed with ANN on Thursday that it will release the first volumes of Last Note's Mikagura School Suite (Mikagura Gakuen Kumikyoku) light novel series and its manga adaptation. Mikagura School Suite, Vol.1: Stride after School is slated to ship on August 29 while Mikagura School Suite Vol. 1: The Manga Companion is slated to ship on September 12.

Last Note, a composer of various Vocaloid songs, began the Mikagura School Suite light novels inspired by his own songs in July 2013 with illustrations by AKINA, who also provided the artwork for the original Vocaloid videos. The series was one of the top-selling light novel series in 2015. The manga adaptation (pictured right) began in Kadokawa's Comic Gene with art by Sayuki in August 2013. Kadokawa shipped the eighth and final novel on August 25, and released the sixth and final compiled volume of the manga in last March.

One Peace Books describes the story of both the light novels and their adaptation as follows:

Eruna Ichinomiya is preparing to enter high school, but there's just one problem―none of the schools interest her! The uniforms are all too boring, until she discovers Mikagura Academy. After Eruna miraculously passes the entrance exam, she discovers that Mikagura Academy isn't a typical school. Mikagura Academy only allows students to form culture-themed school clubs, participation in those clubs is compulsory, and there is a battle system where students must compete with each other as representatives of their clubs. Now Eruna must discover her own power and win her first battle!

The series inspired an anime adaptation in 2015. FUNimation Entertainment streamed the series as it aired in Japan, and later began a broadcast dub. The company released the series on Blu-ray Disc and DVD combo pack in September.
