Crunchyroll Streams Seven Mortal Sins Anime

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Series based on Hobby Japan's multimedia project premieres on Friday

Crunchyroll announced on Thursday that it will stream Seven Mortal Sins (sin Nanatsu no Taizai), the television anime adaptation of Hobby Japan's multimedia project The 7 Deadly Sins (Nanatsu no Taizai, not to be confused with the similarly named manga by Nakaba Suzuki). Crunchyroll will stream the series worldwide outside of Asia starting on Friday at 1:35 p.m. EDT.

The anime series will premiere in Japan on AT-X on April 14 at midnight (effectively April 15), and will then air an hour later on Tokyo MX. The series will also air on BS11 starting on April 17. The website lists the anime with 12 episodes.

Crunchyroll describes the series:

Because she committed the sin of pride against God, the Great Angel Lucifer was cast into Hell and became a Fallen Angel. Also at the lowest level of Hell, the hierarchy of demons have sealed away Lucifer's powers. Lucifer had lost everything, but along with the Demon King of Envy, Leviathan, that admires Lucifer and a high school girl she met on Earth named Totsuka Maria, she becomes the Demon King of Pride Lucifer and begins her journey to revenge on the Seven Demon Kings of Hell. A book of Revelations with the “Seven Deadly Sins” portrayed by beautiful Demon Kings is about to begin.

The show stars:

Kinji Yoshimoto (Queen's Blade: The Exiled Virgin, Plastic Little) is directing the anime at TNK and Artland, and he is also credited for story concept, series composition, and color design. (Eri Umemoto is credited for color design alongside Yoshimoto.) Masashi Suzuki (The Sacred Blacksmith, Rail Wars!, Queen's Blade: Grimoire) is the main writer. The three-member female group Mia REGINA is performing the opening theme song "My Sweet Maiden" and the ending theme song "Welcome to our diabolic paradise." The series will also have 14 total character songs, and the episodes will each feature one or more of the songs.
