posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
New 25-minute "Valentine episode" ships with 2nd BD/DVD box on September 27

The official website for the television anime of Yuuri Eda's Kabukibu! light novels revealed on Friday that the anime is getting an OVA. The second Blu-ray Disc or DVD box set will include the 25-minute OVA. The new anime will be a "Valentine episode" featuring the members of the kabuki club.

The first box set with the first six episodes will ship on July 26. Extras included with the box set include a new novel by Eda, a new manga by illustrator Chizu Kamikō, a bonus DVD featuring the cast, anime illustrations, and a booklet. The second boxset, with episodes 7-12 and the OVA, will ship on September 27. The box set will also include a new novel by Eda, a new manga by illustrator Chizu Kamikō, a bonus DVD, anime illustrations, and a booklet.

Sentai Filmworks has licensed the series and plans to release it on home video. Anime Strike began exclusively streaming the series in the United States on April 7.

The light novel series revolves around Kurogo Kurusu, a high school student who loves kabuki so much that it's annoying. Kurogo yearns to perform kabuki as part of a club at his school, but currently his school doesn't have a kabuki club. So Kurogo sets out to create a kabuki club, and his first order of business is to gather members.

Kazuhiro Yoneda (Yona of the Dawn, Mahou Shoujo Nante Mouiidesukara.) is directing the anime at Studio DEEN. Yoshiko Nakamura (Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun, Hiiro no Kakera - The Tamayori Princess Saga) is in charge of the series scripts. The four-member group CLAMP is drawing the original character designs, and Majiro (Barakamon, Macross Delta, Ongaku Shōjo) is adapting CLAMP's designs for animation. Masaru Yokoyama (Scum's Wish, WWW.WAGNARIA!!) is composing the music.
